Adopted a new type style this week that’s MUCH faster to set. Takes my lettering time from 45 minutes to closer to 20. It goes away from the official Peyo word bubble look – which is touchy because I’m balancing “visually distinct” and “loving reference” – plus the new style takes up way less overhead space. This is good because I can occasionally be tempted from brevity towards dialogue gags.
I’m loving the noodliness and the airy, precise look of it.
Great point. It hugs the letters so it covers only the art it absolutely must – you actually have to make a pretty big white area to keep a standard word bubble from feeling crowded.
Ooo, 5 days of Massive Sqwertz! And over my birthday, too. You shouldn’t have. :-)
Holy sqwertzing Sqwertz Bretty! 5 new comics next week? Sqwertz!
Too late, friend. Too late.
Say – what do you think of the new word bubbles?

I’m quite partial to the word balloons. Good clarity and covers less of the art than prior versions.

Thanks for the feedback Joe!
